About the Project
Seats of Change is a Vice Versa Global initiative dedicated to strengthening community journalism that amplifies women’s leadership and advances their rights.
The project documents how women lead and make decisions in everyday life — the rights they champion, the barriers they face, and the impact they create in their communities.
Through written features, short documentaries, a digital magazine, and impact screenings, Seats of Change is building lasting pathways for community-rooted journalism to shape public narratives, make women’s rights visible, and advance a more just and equitable society in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the GEWE Strategy (2018–2028).
Role
The MEAL Officer will design and implement the project’s monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning framework. They will ensure that activities, outputs, and outcomes are systematically tracked, that learning is captured and shared throughout the project cycle, and that accountability to communities and partners is upheld. The role will generate evidence and insights to strengthen reporting, inform decision-making, and improve future programming.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Data Management
- Develop and maintain the project MEAL framework, including indicators, tools, and reporting templates.
- Track progress on outputs (stories, documentaries, film, magazine, screening) and outcomes (visibility, reach, community feedback).
- Collect and manage quantitative and qualitative data from journalists, partners, and audiences.
Evaluation & Learning
- Lead baseline and endline surveys with journalists and selected community audiences.
- Gather feedback from community screenings, trainings, and mentorship sessions.
- Document lessons learned and produce short learning briefs to inform practice.
- Contribute to donor reporting with clear analysis of results, outcomes, and impact.
Accountability
- Ensure feedback mechanisms are in place for journalists, partners, and community participants.
- Uphold safeguarding standards in data collection, reporting, and dissemination.
- Provide guidance on ethical data use, storage, and confidentiality.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
- At least 3–4 years of experience in MEAL, preferably in media, governance, or rights-focused projects.
- Strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
- Experience designing and managing indicators, surveys, and feedback tools.
- Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and results frameworks.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in digital tools for data management and analysis (Excel, KoboToolbox, SPSS, or similar).
