Community SDG Festival

2023 marks the halfway point of the UN SDGs. This prompted Vice Versa Global-in partnership with other developmental partners-to organise an inspiring festival in Nairobi, that will coincide with the UN summit in New York.

Background: The Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by UN Member States in 2015 to address environmental, political, and economic challenges. These goals aim to promote peace, prosperity, and sustainable development by addressing poverty, health, education, peace, justice, inequality, and economic growth.

SDG Summit in New York

The 2023 SDG summit, to be held during the UNGA high-level week, will review the implementation of the Global Sustainable Development goals. Heads of States and Governments will provide policy guidance, accelerate implementation, and address new challenges since 2015. The outcome will be a negotiated political declaration.

Community SDG Festival

Vice Versa Global and other organizations will organize a Community SDG Festival in Nairobi on September 20th. The event aims to localize discussions around the Global Goals, recognizing indigenous knowledge, resources, and meaningful involvement. Localization will eliminate barriers preventing inclusion, fostering a world where sustainable development and peace are deeply rooted in communities' aspirations.
