The Evolution of Cosmetology: AI Technology Takes Center Stage at the 38th Cosmo Beauty Exhibition.
The Gangnam District in South Korea was bustling with activity as guests checked in and caught their breath with the evening approaching. The excitement would carry on to the next day, May 29th, when the Cosmo Beauty Exhibition was set to begin. This 3-day event was organized by the Korea International Exhibition Co. LTD (KIECO) and KOTRA. It provided a platform for business owners and representatives of various Korean-based cosmetic industries to showcase their products to a wider and more diverse consumer base.
In partnership with IPMC Ghana and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ghana, Vice Versa Media Ghana has been chosen as the exclusive media platform from among 50 African countries to cover the esteemed 38th Seoul International Cosmetics and Beauty Industry Exhibition. This article will detail the daily activities of the event and will emphasize the use of advanced technology within the cosmetic industry.
The 38th Cosmo Beauty Exhibition
The Cosmo Beauty Exhibition had a fantastic start on May 29, 2024. KIECO and KOTRA provided interpreters for non-Korean-speaking attendees to ensure smooth communication throughout the event.
With the help of personal interpreters, visitors explored over 100 exhibition stands, gaining insight into the diverse cosmetic industries represented at the exhibition. From skincare to hair care products, the first day of the exhibition provided a platform for industry professionals, enthusiasts, and businesses to connect, share insights, and establish partnerships across continents.
Hon Jin-Young, the renowned South Korean singer and CEO of the cosmetic brand “Chic Blanco,” attended the event. Taking advantage of this annual opportunity, the well-known South Korean music artist participated in the event as an exhibitor, along with other cosmetic brands.
Exploring Advanced Technology within the Cosmetic Industry
The Korean Cosmetic Industry has quickly dominated the global cosmetics market, competing with countries like France and the USA. Consumers of these Korean cosmetic brands consider them to be the best. The main ingredient, as Day 2 revealed, is the use of advanced technology. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has called South Korea the global powerhouse in science and technology. This became evident as I explored the various intriguing cosmetic technologies at the Cosmo Beauty Exhibition, including the AI Skin Analysis, Mirart AI Mirror, Facial Skin Analysis, DYMAX, and the LED Eye Area Massager.
AI Skin Analysis, Mirart AI Mirror, and Facial Skin Analysis
The AI Skin Analysis, Mirart AI Mirror, and Facial Skin Analysis, through the power of innovative artificial intelligence, provide a detailed and accurate analytic report of a person’s present skin and hair condition while recommending suitable solutions to enhance the overall well-being of the individual. Using this device, individuals can also track progress to the health of their skin after the initial test, to inform them of other possible practices that can ensure a long-lasting improvement.
The DYMAX is another technology that uses radio frequency to relax your muscles, support face lifting, and revitalize your skin through the enhancement of blood circulation and metabolism. The LED Eye Area Massager, on the other hand, aids in reducing wrinkles around the eye.
To use these devices, a cosmetic and/or beauty parlor needs to be medically licensed.
The Climax
After seeing everything there was to see on days 1 and 2, we didn’t expect to see anything new, but we were saying goodbye to new friends and solidifying any new partnerships made. Turns out, the best was yet to come: the organizers decided to display Korean culture through fashion and makeup.
There were two sets of fashion trends represented: the first showcased traditional South Korean culture, while the second featured modern-day fashion trends in South Korea.
As the event drew to a close, I received a warm bow from a robot dog, developed by High School Students.
